Established in 1978, the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay (CBHSSJB) holds the vital responsibility of administering health and social services for all residents of the Eeyou Istchee territory. Our partnership was formed to provide strategic support, enhance operational effectiveness, and create compelling communications to further their mission of providing high-quality, culturally-safe care.
Our collaboration with the CBHSSJB has been driven by a shared commitment to improving health outcomes. We provided a multi-faceted approach combining high-level strategy, process improvement, and targeted research and communications.
- Strategic Planning & Reporting: We worked closely with the CBHSSJB to support change management by improving internal policies and procedures. We delivered targeted recommendations, supported implementation planning, and helped develop a robust care model framework. In addition, we have written numerous high-level reports for management and various departments to support their strategic objectives.
- Program Development & Land-Based Healing: We supported the development of culturally-focused materials, including co-authoring the official manual for the land-based healing program, ensuring its principles and practices were documented for consistent and effective delivery.
- Conceptual Application Design (UI/UX): For the Nishiyuu Department, we went beyond standard UI/UX. We conceptualized and designed an entire project management application from the ground up. This involved mapping complex workflows, defining the architecture, and creating an intuitive system for managing their diverse projects, ultimately securing buy-in for development.
Our multi-faceted partnership has provided the CBHSSJB with strategic guidance and practical tools to enhance their service delivery. The improved internal policies and care model framework have contributed to more efficient and effective operations, directly benefiting community members.
The custom application concept for the Nishiyuu Department has provided a clear blueprint for a tool that will significantly streamline their project management. Furthermore, to support another Nishiyuu initiative, we produced a short documentary film following a group of youth on their healing journey. The film is a powerful testament to Cree ways of living a good life and serves as a vital communication tool for the Board.
