CASE STUDY

Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay

Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay

Founded in 1978, the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay (CBHSSJB) is responsible for the administration of health and social services for all persons residing permanently or temporarily in Region 18, the administrative region of the Ministry of Health and Social Services of Quebec corresponding to the Cree territory of James Bay. Their mandate is defined in Chapter S-5—An Act respecting health services and social services for Cree Native persons.

Strategic Planning and Process Improvement

We worked closely with CBHSSJB to support change management by conducting departmental and program level risk management and improving internal policy and procedures that align with organizational strategic direction and cultural safety benchmarks. We delivered targeted recommendations and supported implementation planning. Additionally we supported program development and service delivery enhancements by elaborating a robust care model framework that enhanced the quality of care provided to community members. By streamlining operations and aligning the organizational structure with their strategic objectives, we helped CBHSSJB optimize their resources and improve service outcomes.

Research and Evaluation

Our collaboration with CBHSSJB has been driven by a shared commitment to improving health and social services for the Cree community. To this end we provide ongoing research and evaluation support, including performing literature reviews, qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, and producing internal operational tools and communications products that support institutional memory and facilitate evidence-informed decision-making. We leverage our expertise and strategic advice to support the executive office in enhancing the quality of care provided to community members.
