The Mandate: Enhancing Service Accessibility Across Communities
Apatisiiwin Skills Development (ASD) is dedicated to strengthening human resources development across Eeyou Istchee by supporting Cree Nation members and employers. Managing fourteen distinct programs across three distinct funding streams—Workforce Development, Capacity Building, and Youth—required a high-performance digital environment that removed friction for remote applicants and streamlined administrative overhead.
ASD needed to transition from fragmented processes to a cohesive ecosystem where youth, post-secondary students, and local businesses could seamlessly access critical financial assistance, wage subsidies, and training initiatives.
Our Integrated Solution
True self-sufficiency comes from within, which is why our approach combined advanced application modernization with tailored skill transfers.
Full Portal Redesign & Program Comparison Tool
We completely overhauled the public-facing website, turning it into a modernized, accessible, and highly functional digital home. To resolve confusion surrounding their fourteen separate programs, we built a custom program comparison tool. This utility allows community members to easily sort through Youth initiatives, Capacity Building programs, and Workforce opportunities based on their specific eligibility.
Automated Online Applications and Bursary Portals
We eliminated manual friction by integrating fully secure, automated online application pipelines. Cree Nation members can now apply directly online for training programs and the prestigious Cree Bursary stream, significantly accelerating intake speeds and processing times for employment counsellors.
Custom Job Board Web Application Development
To bridge the gap between regional employers and qualified candidates, we conceptualized and deployed a dedicated job board web application. This custom tool functions as a centralized, community-specific employment marketplace, allowing local private sector businesses to post opportunities and job seekers to submit resumes directly.
Communications, Digital Marketing, and Ongoing Capacity Training
Reflecting Zerosum's deep commitment to building lasting capacity, our partnership extended past development into deep-level training. We designed and executed hands-on Communications and Marketing training programs for the ASD team. This equips their officers with the skills necessary to promote career awareness, broadcast funding opportunities, and independently manage their digital presence.
Measurable Outcomes and Lasting Impact
Our ongoing support ensures that the software infrastructure scales seamlessly with the evolving labour needs of Eeyou Istchee.
Frictionless Accessibility: Fourteenth strategic programs are now centralized, allowing youth, post-secondary students, and individuals with disabilities to access targeted support from any remote community.
Operational Efficiency: Automated workflow intake for the Cree Graduate and Career Advancement streams eliminated administrative bottlenecks.
Community Self-Reliance: Through targeted marketing training, ASD team members possess full ownership over their outreach strategies, minimizing dependence on outside agencies.
